PHYTIC ACID

Phytic acid is traditionally considered a chelating agent, i.e. a substance capable of limiting the absorption of certain minerals (calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc), binding with them to form insoluble salts (phytates and phytin). It is frequently used in so-called 'antipollution' cosmetics, i.e. ones able to limit the absorption of metals found in "urban" pollution.
